Start/Stop/Status #
To start, restart, stop or see the status of each of the VMware Cloud Director Availability appliances, you need to establish an SSH session to the respective appliance and run the following command:
systemctl {start|restart|stop|status} <Service_System_Unit>
The different services and their system units can be found in the table below.

Restart through the UI #
As part of the troubleshooting, you can restart all VMware Cloud Director Availability services in the appliance from the System health page.
Note: After restarting each service, wait a couple of minutes for the service to become operational and display its service management interface again.
Procedure #
- Log in to the management interface of each VMware Cloud Director Availability appliance.
- In a Web browser, go to https://Appliance-IP-Address/ui/admin.
- Select Appliance login or SSO login and enter the root or the single sign-on user credentials.
- Click Login.
- Restart all of the appliance services.
- In the left pane, click System Health.
- In the System health page, click Restart service.
- In the Restart service window, to confirm the restart operation click Restart.
